I just dealt with one of these tickets.
Here's my experience, though I think the rules have changed since then. (November 2005)
Paid lawyer $800, charge was dropped to Wreckless Driving which was then waived since the Defensive Driving Course was taken. It was in Pinellas County. Richard Alexander out of Duniden took the case. You might want to look him up and just ask for some advice.
I've heard about the jail time before, yet I've never seen it happen.
Someone @ the shop got one, too...they went to court for their pre-hearing & the judge told him "You'll most likely get a $200 fine and 1 year license suspension."
That's better than jail time, IMO.
