Get a lawyer; I don't care if they have a video of you doing burnouts in front of a church; you need a lawyer anytime you go into a courtroom.
One more thing: don't ever give the cops any information about yourself, or what you had been doing, until the cop outlines EXACTLY why s/he has pulled you over. They need to have probable cause to investigate any vehicle, including its driver. If the cop doesn't tell you what you've been pulled over for, demand to see his/her supervisor.. Don't budge an inch; cops these days think they can intimidate anyone they want to, when the law just isn't on their side of things. Don't accept "just a routine stop" either- there is no such thing as a routine stop. They have to inform you of exactly what they've stopped you for, or they are violating your right to freedom from unreasonable search/seizure. Never, EVER authorize a cop to search your vehicle, either; make them show you a warrant, or explain why they believe they have reasonable suspicion. (you looking nervous/shaky/scared is not a valid reason, btw) Any time you get pulled over, the first thing you do is ask to see the officers ID; and make sure they see you writing their information down. If they refuse to give you their ID, Drive Away! (when you are later arrested for flee/eluding, say nothing until you see your lawyer, then tell your lawyer that you had been pulled over by a cop who refused to identify him/herself, and were concerned for your personal safety.. you will be out of jail in no time at all, and likely be able to file a lawsuit against the police department)
The above is legal advice given to me after I was arrested for my 3rd DWLS...
As for your current situation, you are likely fugged; DWLS (Driving While License Suspended), you weren't on your way to-from work when pulled over, so they probably won't allow you to have a restricted license. A good lawyer will be able to get a temp license for you though.. GET A LAWYER
