Anyway, 11.2:1 on a blower is risky business, keep that timing way down and keep it fat. Even then you are asking for it... you could try running a real thick gasket to compensate as well.
I agree that if you buy a turbo kit, yes its expensive. If you can do the fab work though, it can be cheaper than a blower setup. I look at it this way, with a blower, you KNOW you're going to have lag. With a turbo, if the turbo is too big, you may have lag.
