We made sure spark plugs were in the correct posistion and they are only about a year old
Yes we have pulled the distributor to check the condition of the gears, ill be sure to check that its in the correct posistion.

Is there a difference between an 86 distributor and a 87-89 model year distributor?

The shrader valve is intact, the piece that broke was the adapter that goes onto the shrader valve that allows a fuel guage to be connected. That adapter happens to be part of the fuel guage package and they dont sell it seperately. So i have to return the entire fuel guage or have them open a new package to get that adapter.
