did you pull the distributer to do any work? It sounds like maybe with the back firing issue that you are a tooth off or so on the gears. How about spark plug wires, are they on correctly or maybe you have one or two crossed?

Yeah the shrader valve is a little flimsy compared to the size of the FPR's. A&E for that I guess huh..
