Default feels good to know how to work on cars

want to see who or how often other TR members have this happen. I went to my mother inlaws store today and one of the salesmen was a car guy and had heard stories from my mother inlaw about the stuff I had done to my cars. I'm not going to list it all, but some of it included the basic boltons I/H/E, full audio video install, turbo, motor swap, upgrade from power nothing to pw, pl, pm(mirrors), shave door kit, alarm installs, extra wiring for custom activation of features, suspension, ........ after talking to this guy for several minutes about all the stuff that I have on the cars or have had on the cars he asks me who does all my work....... my response......I DO. I had to hide it but for some reason it felt really good to be able to say that. I didn't throw money at someone to get all this done (anyone can do that) I did it all with my own 2 hands.

I'm not tring to brag, there are a few things I don't do either for lack of tools ( wheel alignment/mount and ballance) lack of skill (body work...its and art.... window tint, it's just a pita to fuck with and I just don't have the patience) and lastly some things I have yet to do ( rebuild a motor, I could, but I am not making my first rebuild be my daily driver) other than those few things I have done everything else to my car that needs to be done.

who else take pride in knowing they put the time and effort into their cars? and who says they are a "car guy" but really means "I like cars but don't know jack about how they work".
