This is how it goes at a Mopar show. First they check the body code plate. Then they look at the vin on the dash and door. Then the stamping on the front core support, and cowl (if it has it there) then the stamping on the trunk striker housing. When all these numbers match, if he's skinny like me he will crawl under the car, check the #'s on the driveline. When he emerges from under the vehicle he will announce at that point that the car is numbers matching. Plain and simple. Same with auto appraisers. This is determined before any of the other numbers on the body code plate are crunched.
