((not needed. the whole ls not meant to rev that high is mostly when doing ls/vtec, then its a good idea to get rods/pistons and shit.(which you said you'd have anyway)))))
as for that the not reving a ls that high is not do to haveing a lsvtec,it is do to the ls crank is not as balanced as vtec/and is heavier,and couple more reasons.
