I believe he was fired as a result of that action and spent some time in a hospital aswell.

Yeah, officer saftly may be the first thing on an officers mind when initiating a traffic stop, but damn it, you better treat me with some common courtesy and some respect if you intend for this thing to be a polite exchange of ideas. I agree with you here... just not sure where it comes in to play. I say the "burden" is definitly on the officer to be the polite one up front to someone. They are after all the one "initiating" a "exchange of ideas" with that someone.
Although, I can tell you, just like whats his name in here that thinks he's god's gift and he will tell anyone and everyone how it's going to be.... that attitude up front puts ANY officer on a very quick, very sharp defensive mode... and i'm willing to say that 95% of the time.. Joe Cool over there isnt going to win, at least for the time being.
I would love to go into more about this with shroom boy, but I have had enough to deal with for one 24 hour period and really dont feel like coming down to his level right now. Maybe tomorrow.
