This thread is to guage interest in replacing leaking capacitors and/or socketing DSM ECUs.
Information about the capping:
* A fairly common problem with DSM ECUs is leaking/blown capacitors over time, especially in older ECUs. The capacitors leakage can also destroy traces on the ECUs motherboard.
Information about socketing:
* Desolder the stock EEPROM in the ECU and solder in a ZIF(Zero Insertion Force) socket, allowing you to replace the EEPROM with a custom burn and tune your car.
* For me to remove your stock EEPROM, I have to remove the legs to the chip, therefore rendering it useless. This is where
Jordan Y. comes in. He would burn you a stock EEPROM and/or light/mild customized EEPROM.
* I have to remove a little of the motherboards coating to desolder/solder; so I replace any remove coating with polyurethane spray to protect the motherboard and prevent corrosion.
Pictures of an ECU I did for a friend of Jordan's:

Jordan Y. will post a reply and/or edit my thread to add his part on ECU tuning.
