Absolutely the point. Synthetic oil takes much longer to wear down than regular oil. That's why Amsoil can be changed every 25,000 miles.
How about 50,000 miles? It's possible to make oil last that long with a bypass filter. It'd require oil analysis to be sure the oil and filter don't need changed, however. That's what semis use, and they can run for a million miles. You didn't think they actually stop and change the oil on their truck every 3,000 miles, did you?
