The reason why they were not exactly the most popular right off the showroom floor was the fact that they carried a sticker price of $28,000 back in 1991/1992. All however did sell and they are very rare now. There was one that sold for $15,000 about 2 years ago and the price for them is usually double to triple what it is for the same thing in a 2dr coupe version. I don't think it will be suicide or not, would be a good move on mitsu's part I think cause it would reach out to the people who dont want a 4dr but want everything that comes with the evo. The evo will never die. Plus the fact that the evo is lighter then this new concept car kind of helps it out. The rims on the New concept car are 20" wheels, just goes to show you how much of a boat this sucker is.
I didn't say it would be Mitsu suicide, I said it would be EVO suicide. The WRX / EVO thing is a fad that was created by the lack of import sports car in this country. Theres a ton of loyal WRX/EVO people out there that will be quick to say "no way i'd never buy a Eclipse over my EVO", but that's a biased opinion that comes from ownership pride and everyone does it.
You'll still hang onto your adult market and those who require 4 doors, but you aren't going to sell Evo's to 16-18 year old kids as quickly as you're going to sell them Eclipses.
