I put in a lot of time and effort and I don't even get paid for what I do so that you guys can participate and have a safe/police harassment free environment to "play" in (which is fine with me). When it comes to DG, we really don't make much money on events anyway. $1350 + 600 wouldn't even cover rental at most places. If we lived in a nation where everyone with a big parking lot was willing to rent it out on the cheap so that kids can lay down lines of tire it would really help out when it comes to cost, but this just ain't the case. Real estate in Tampa Bay is expensive and that sure doesn't help.
I think the comparison and trade-offs between track and street drifting are pretty aparent, and "free" becomes a relative term.
We're always trying to figure out ways to get you guys more "bang for the buck" at DDays, and there will even most likely be one or two changes in how they are run at the upcoming Oct 15th DDay8. At the last event we were at a price of $90 for 15 laps = $6/lap. I think the goal would to be to get that number down to something like $3/lap (30 laps at $90/event). I think that we can accomplish this in due time once we can make events run like a well oiled machine and participants help facilitate rapid lapping action.
I have a lot to say about the topic, but would really like to hear what you folks think. Don't think I'm not keeping an eye on this thread...
