not saying youre wrong at all. but that would be someone going after a low et, or high trap speed.
you can be VERY competitive at a completely stock level, as long as the car is consistent.
me and my dad used to go to the drag races every friday for about 3-4 years, in street class, never once had to replace a part due to racing in that time. granted it isnt as fun as going a billion miles an hour, but in bracket racing, speed isnt important, consistency, and driving are.

that being said, drag racing is boring, and puts me to sleep.
