I have been driving my K around with the power steering pump disconnected for months, and I have done this before no ill effects. This is my second leaking rack, except mine basically losses all fluid within 3-4hrs and leaks at both boots.

I am thinking I will just replace it with a fast ratio rack from a C/S Package Daytona, apparently you can get these remans at any auto parts store and I doubt they will know the core is not the same.
