I have a car with T-tops, IF it were to roll over, I suppose it wouldn't be safe. Of course it has enough rust to fail inspection up north (hole in floor) as well.
And no...it isn't a right to not wear a seatbelt. You WANT it to be your right, because it's uncomfortable. Until you have a accident, and then you'll wish it was on.
Smoke stinks. Maybe you don't realize that. It has a nasty smell that is on par with raw exhaust. Why isn't it illegal? MONEY.
Having to use turn signals for lane changing? YOU ALREADY HAVE TO. My wife got pulled over for that a while ago. I side with the officer on that; I know she tends to do the look/signal/turn all in one motion. But it doesn't help that the Buick's turn signal blinks about once every 3 seconds.
Now here's one...she got a ticket not for the signal, but for....not having "proof of insurance" because her card that she DID have, was expired. He checked the insurance through his super-duper-wiz computer and found it was current. -YET- she gets a ticket for not having PROOF OF INSURANCE! How about the fact the officer just told her she has active insurance?
WHY do we still have to carry proof of something that can be looked up? WHY do I have to keep a sticker on my tag, showing current registration, if I have paid my taxes and registration already, but forgot to put the sticker on? The officer runs the tag, sees it's current, and YET, still pulls you over.
Why can I find roads in N.C. with a speed limit of 55 mph, on a 2 lane country road, with blind turns, etc? Yet, US 19 is 45 mph. Busch Blvd is 45 mph. I-275, a 6 lane divided highway, is 55 mph.
There are some roads I've not felt comfortable going the speed limit. On others I wonder what moron pulled that number out of his ass. In the end, regardless of the reason, it makes us feel like they're doing it just for the sake of setting up speed traps for revenue. THAT is what I have a problem with.
Catch me fair and square going 80 on 275. But don't drop the speed limit to 40 for no reason, just to "catch" me going too fast.
It's also my RIGHT to burn the flag. Will I? No. THAT is what makes this country so great. We have the freedom to express ourselves, yet most of us find other, more respectful ways of doing so. Taking away the ability to protest is taking away yet another freedom we enjoy. Perhaps when someone is burning the flag in protest, you should realize they feel STRONGLY about something, so much so that they feel the country's ideals are being put in jeopardy.
