AHHA! Am I glad to learn this!
So an antitheft device should be an on/off
switch in the wire that sends voltage to the pump;
INSTEAD OF:
a switch that sends 12volts to the pump constantly
This bit of info might have saved the other poster from
killing his fuel pump.............

if this had been a racecar application, there are pumps that are designed to be run on 12 volts or more, and have flow rates for the different amounts of voltage supplied to the pump.
