Nothing. The only difference is that a radial has more ridgid carcas than a bias ply so radials are concidered more efficient since they product less rolling drag. For this reason they bias plys will sometime stick to a track better to since they can more easily deform to the undulations and imperfections of the road surface.

As long as you don't mind the difference in handling that you MIGHT be able to feel with plys and the 1-4% fuel economy difference they are perfectly fine for the street.
