I know of a 1G for 500 bucks, needs a new hydro tranny line, new motor new trans, guy wants it gone. It already has a welded diff and racing beat exhaust and revs past 8k. The guy held it for me for almost 6 months for a project I was doing, but my destination car got in a wreck.

The Carbed 13b of the 1G makes for a pretty flexible powerband and you aren't battling the turbo to feel throttle response. They also weigh a just a little more than the Corolla and have live axle rear end which makes for pretty predictable breakaway. I wouldn't poo-poo a 1G until you're really put it through its paces.
