You haven't seen the Pontiac Solstice or the Saturn Sky? Both RWD 4 cyl sportsters. GM has also stated it's intentions on hybrid's...even a hybrid SUV (Saturn Greenline Vue) although no formal production dates have been given. GM is "trying" to get the youth market with the 2.0 supercharged Cobalt SS and Redline ION but styling and performance still falls behind what the market really wants. That and the 2.2 ecotec platform is cleaning up in Nopi and NHRA It's a shame is somewhat of a turd from the factory though.
