What good are they if they tend to rip?

I have a pair of Shift gear gloves. I haven't got a chance to really "use" them, but they're really comfortable, built well, and seem like they'll provide decent protection in case I'm ever sliding on my palms. I've had them for 7-8mths and they've held up fine. Best part was they were cheap, like $25.
