no, amc made there own motors. 4.170 bore and 3.680 stroke. all 401 and 390's came stock with forged rods and crank. amc blocks are really hard too. the distributor is in the front, it sets into the timming cover. the timming cover isn't on so you can't see where the distributor goes. i just put amc sb short for amc small block.

the line is for extra oiling for the rear mains. you only need it for a amc block when your running the r's over 7,000r's. the stock rods and crank are good up to 7500r's. talked to a guy that's been running them to 7,800 on his drag car for years. if you get the rods and crank nitrided, then there good for 8500+r's. not bad for a stock crank and rods.

the hoses on the intake are for rear head cooling. keeps the water moving and should stop hotspots at the back of the heads. helps to keep the motor temps down too. i was told it adds a few hp too. but i did it for the exrta cooling and to keep the head temps even.
