Was this motor pulled from a Ford non-H.O. passenger car? Non-H.O. motors have those pistons with a slight dish. Also, those pistons weren't made with high power of any kind in mind so they do not take too well to abuse. What you call "eyebrows" in the pistons are know as valve reliefs.
