Jason, you are not understanding the argument I am making here... We are talking HORSEPOWER... A 400hp LS will have more torque than a 400hp LS-VTEC, simply due to the fact it takes more boost to make the same power... I agree that if both motors had 400torque, the LS-VTEC should have more power... I never said nor implied you were wrong...
The only thing Im not understanding is how you say The straight LS will top out faster... For one, I dont care about the top speed... Ive taken fifth gear to 7600rpm and seen the needle wrap around... Big deal, when will you ever need to go that fast??? It gets a little scary up there.... Besides, when will I ever trap over 172mph(about where my car tops out)???? I agree, its nice to stay in 4th gear, but once my head is built and I can rev to 8500 or 9k, I wont need to worry about that... a boosted LS reving to 9k with a GSR tranny , vs. a boosted LS VTEC reving to 9K with a GSR tranny, would both top out the same given they were on the same size tires. So that shouldnt part of the debate....
