Higher octane fuel will not yeild any power gains unless you are experiencing a knock problem on pump gas. If you do not have Toys, high octane fuel will be a waste of money. When the HOM button is pressed, the spark advance is increased to take advantage of the higher octane. If you do not press the button or you do not have the button, nothing will happen. In fact, higher octane fuel usually have a lower energy content than lower octane fuels. This means that unless there is an increase in spark advance, high octane fuel will be produce slightly less power.
