I know boostjunkie has been putting over 500whp to his stock engine for almost a good year now. Not once breaking. And by stock I mean stock bottom end, stock head, stock composite head gasket, stock head bolts, just upgraded cams. Seems pretty damn reliable to me.

Oh yea the motor in his white car before that was putting 450whp down for over 2 years never once breaking, pretty much same as stated above but had 4layer and ARPs. But I showed him how to break it in less then one month. Get er done.

As for 4g's that are breaking down, don't think the 4g is at fault, look to the owner 98% of the time. It's owner/mechanic operator error, not the motor itself. That's why it upsets people when they talk shit about DSM's and always breaking with it's not the DSM's fault but the fact that the owner cut corners and tried to go the cheap route or just plain fucked up. Don't blame the car for the owners mistake.
