Woohoo, started my car tonight for the first time in about two months. Doing the timing with the engine in the car for the first time really wasn't as bad as I'd expected, just time consuming.
Of course, there's a big boost leak somewhere, and it's idle surging itself to the point of stalling, but that's to be expected. I expect to have that and a few other minor issues worked out by the end of this weekend and the car back on the road by Monday.
Laundry list of things I did: I did some mild head porting and I ported my turbo, manifold, and o2, rerouted the coolant lines to avoid the crushed oil cooler, did the clearancing needed to bolt on my rx-7 rims, replaced the head gasket, timing belt, and leaky valvestem seals, and dropped another few pounds of weight in the form of an intake manifold brace of questionable utility and an equally worthless battery relocation cable for a lightweight battery. With the changes I made and some street tuning sessions over the next few weeks I'm hoping for high 12's on pump at around 106 when I head back to the track... assuming an assembly error doesn't shut her down again
