NO. The differential gear does NOT mate with the mainshaft. The differential ring gear mates with the countershaft.
No. If you change the 5th gears, you have to change both the 5th gear on the counter and the 5th gear on the mainshaft.
No they are not the same. There are normal ball bearings and also the taper bearings.
