Questions on tranny build..
I have already dissasembled the spare GSR tranny i have from a froend that grenaded the diff at the track. Well further damage is the pinion gear on the main shaft is also missing teeth.
My question is the main shaft the same on a B16, B18 trannies? also do you have to change anything out besides the LS 5th(like syncros etc???) Everything else looks good with the tranny. I have been researching in the helms i have.
If anyone has a LS 5th or a GSR main shaft let me know how much you might want for it.

I have a GS-R main shaft and Ring Gear, took them out and installed ATS 4.9 so they are not out of a bad tranny. Also have a good factory GS-R diff. PM me if you are interested in either of these.
That is NOT the Main shaft that goes with the differential ring gear. That is the countershaft.
If you change the countershafts, you must get the mating ring gear for the differential.
I have a brand new ITR 5 gears for both the counter and mainshaft. IF you put the LS 5th gear on the gsr stacks, you will need both gears.

Ok so if you change out to a ls 5th you actually have to change the differential gear an mainshaft?
Also are the bearings on the diff the same between b16 and b18?

No. If you change the 5th gears, you have to change both the 5th gear on the counter and the 5th gear on the mainshaft.
No they are not the same. There are normal ball bearings and also the taper bearings.
