How do you know it was black people? You shouldn't assume it was minorites just because...I know white people who steal too.
Suggestions would be
1) Get a two way alarm. Yeah it costs around 300$ but wouldn't that be worth it to prevent this again? You'll know what your car is doing all hours of the night and if someone is fucking wit it, your pager will yell for help, and so will the car
2) Get a weapon/make a plan of what you will do when that pager does go off
