Getting 300 cfm out of the regular LS1 casting is TOUGH to do. Most end up in the 260-280 range.
The 6.0 and LS6 is a bit easier...but more expensive as well.
Other LS1 porters that I like are Total Engine Airflow in Kentucky (who is doing my heads) and Meaux Racing heads in Louisiana that does Allan Futrals heads (Vinces badass 408 ). The rest like MTI, Absolute, GTP, and several others can be hit and miss IMO.
However..there is something to be said about using whats local. And Felber has as much knowledge and experiance as anyone...and is local!
Guys...watch the non sponsor pimping of shops. RX/Felber is not a paying sponsor here (although they are working on that).
Keep this post geared towards information only. Blatent sales will be edited. Please no ph #s or pricing...just info.
97BLKZ I edited your post a bit.
Thanks for the great words. I also would like to offer an appology, if it seemed like I was pimping my shop. And any who know me realize I'm not much into promotion....I just posted in defence/clarity of RevX, and my affiliation. I hope they step up and become a sponsor, since I'm more than sure it will pay off. Speaking for my shop....I think it would be a conflict of interest, and not what I want.
If my post/response was interpretted as spamming/promoting...It wasn't intended.
As for flow #s.....I have great respect for other head porters in the know..After all...They're in my same shoes. Some are on a limited lifespan, and some have potential untapped. BUT there are some who down-right have their act together.,..Some of which were named.
My input, and WHY 300+ from a LS1 head is TOUGH... Most people aim at the PORT, and forget about the chamber...It sickens me when I see people say that a 317 (6.0) head flows the same as a 243 (LS6) head just because the ports are modeled/cast after the other...Food for thought...Airflow is dictated as much in the EXIT of the valveseat as it it is on the entrance.
And BTW....I shall confess....My numbers on MY 5.3 "Big Uglies" are on a 4" bore........Bear in mind..I've gone a LONG way to not make flow numbers part of my game, and/or promoted my heads....I'd be perfectly happy if all I did was educate some people and see some shops do well...I have zero stake in this game from a personal perspective. From a business perspective...I guess I do....But it's bias, not promotion.....Was that confusing enough? LOL
