Yes but you do not need a lawyer to do that. I have been in front of old Judge Overton(sp) three times and had no lawyer with me. All 3 times I got away with just court costs. Take care of it in a timely manner and show some respect and you should not have any problems.

You don't know what you're talking about.

When you set a court date, you're setting a date for arraignment with a trial master. If you pleade not guilty, they set a trial date. The cop only has to show for the trial date. He isn't required to show up for the arraignment.

Beyond that, every jackass and their brother shows up in court with a sob story about how this wasn't their fault and it was an accident and blah blah blah. If you get it fixed and send a lawyer, it shows that you take the situation and your mistake with some level of seriousness. That perception is invaluable when trying to get the charges dismissed. Basicly, you don't look like a jackass trying to get out of the fine like everyone else in the room. I guarantee a higher rate of success with a lawyer vs doing it yourself. It's ALL perception.

I'll pay the 100.00 and court costs ANY day of the week over having points on my license. PERIOD. And I can save the classes for when I really screw up and can't get out of it.
