The Turbo swap isnt' for everyone, but if you want something different, it can be very rewarding. The 87 will be the easiest year to swap. You can keep your factory wiring harness, just add a couple of wires and move a couple around (not that difficult of a job). You could add a turbo setup to your stock motor if you keep boost low (15 lbs with an intercooler). This may be advisable because then all you really need to purchase is the turbo, manifold, ECU, and injectors. If you like it and want to go faster, then you could swap in a turbo shortblock and really put the boost to it (I run 23 lbs on pump gas on my stock shortblock).
