how much does it cost to build a 200hp sohc, because you can do it on a dohc with oem parts.
I disagree. Everywhere you look everyone has swapped to a DOHC without researching or knowing the real potential of a SOHC motor. Everyone thinks that starting with the platform that has the most hp to begin with will result with the most hp in the end. This is not always true and is the reason why you only see a couple of SOHC big dogs out there.

Of course you can build a DOHC with 200hp and OEM parts because the damn HypeR is 200hp from factory. D and F series motors are EXTREMELY detuned from factory and therefore we don't have the caliber of intake manifolds, valvetrain components, etc available to us in OEM form for SOHCs. As far as REAL aftermarket parts though, they are much cheaper for SOHC than DOHC.
