TVIS? Cool! I know earlier N/A Mk3s and I think a few other cars like MR-2 had it. Its a variable intake system (actually it probably stands for Toyota Variable Intake System) so that you can make maximum power over a broader range. I suppose its similar to VVT, but in a different way, because it is in the intake mannifold.
