the kwak and gixxer 6 both have decent midrange (many magazines have compared them to a 750). and why worry about being below 8000rpm, when you've still got 7500rpm ABOVE 8000!!!

i personally LOVE the high whine at 15500rpm. ryan, you've seemed to do all right on your 750s, but remember, your first 750 was slower than a modern 600. you squid

codenameacura- i would say if you want a decent midrange look at the kwak and gixxers in the 600 trim. i can't argue that the gixxer 750 though, it's a great bike, and with your motocross experience you'll probably be able to handle it.
