LOL...i don't think you're referring to me with that last comment justin .but, in the event that you are: i certainly never said, "supra sidemount sux." i don't remember ever thinking that for that matter. point i was making is there's another board member who was running a dejon sidemount (another bigger sidemount upgrade) on a 2g and was struggling to make power (and he wasn't even at 300hp yet) until he switched to a good fmic and low and behold, he found that power. he was tuning on the dyno at secret sevices when he found this out, mind you. as far as the supra sidmount, when you consider that you can get a decent new FMIC (20+ x 7+ x 3+) for around $200 and make the piping for around $100, i don't think the supra sidemount is very cost effective. secondly, with the supra sidemount, you have to swap endtanks, and i'm sure you know that those end tanks blow , especially once you rotate them. finally, consider the frontal surface area of the aforementioned decent front mount and you will see how efficient the FMIC is over the smic setup.
fact enough for you? i know what the numbers say (although i don't know where you get those numbers for temps at the tb from, except chris posted those on tbdsm without test evidence, but..) but they don't tell the whole story. the 400hp marker you've labeled the supra sidemount with is on a six cylinder twin turbo setup...the supra made 400hp. so it's good for 400hp on a twin turbo six cylinder supra, but what's that mean for a 4g63. show the numbers on a 4g63...where's the 2g eclipse that makes 400hp with supra sidemount??? make a few runs with that supra sidemount...or up the boost to say 22 psi for that matter and have fun as it heat soaks or the endtanks blow...then swap on that front mount and tell me it was worth it for the supra sidemount. if you have $100-$175 for a supra side mount, but don't own an s-afc, datalogging equipment, injectors, fuel pump, basically every standard mod necessary before making real power...then your priorities are out of whack. if you're at the point where your sidemount is holding you back, why go to another sidemount that's just going to hold you back after another mod or upped boost and good tuning. save the money and get a good front mount and you'll save your self some time and hassle. that's my advice...and no, not because i'm an expert...but i do the research too justin.
