No thats not how it works.
Just because you lower the collar on the sleeve it does not mean that the spring is compressed more. You still have the same weight resting on each spring so no they will not compress more or less.
If you dont want to just go the right route the first time get yourself a set of GC coilovers or Skunk2 coilovers. I myself am going the GC route since Ill be able to customize the spring rates for autocrossing purposes.
