Drag racing is motorsports competition, Stock car racing is motorsports competition, rally racing is motorsports competition, road racing is motorsports competition, Autocrossing is motorsports competiton. Drifting is some slapdicks in a parking lot doing donuts.
Drifting is a motorsports competition as well, although it is still in its infancy locally. Who cares the point of a drift competition isn't to get the lowest time? Different strokes for different folks.
Don't forget, there are also "slapdick" dragracers racing illegally on the streets.
