1987 Turbo, 5 speed, hard top
Was getting ready to rebuild the car, and now it's got a bad knock and is undrivable. I need a car to get to work and around, so I am either selling this completely rust free, 3 owner, 0 accident car with it's knocking engine, and another block from a 90 car with new pistons and ARP hardware(still needs bearings, machine work, oil pump, gaskets, MHG and probably a clutch), or trading it and cash for an mr2, 240sx, 300zx, corolla, miata, bmw, most anything that I can get around in really. hah. I have seen lots of knocking cars sell for 1000-1200 bucks in the past month on craigslist, so somewhere around there would be cool to get. Otherwise I would expect a decent car for it plus 800 cash. DON'T want another turbo car, and would like something more on the cheap side to repair. Open to a lot right now since I NEED a car though. Thanks

Work is fine, as long as it's not engine work. I couldn't remember my photobucket info :-X Heres some pictures of when I brought it home. It has a sprayed black hood now because the sun damage wouldn't stop spreading.






The original post says it has rod knock. But aside from that... passenger window just stopped one day(think it's a switch since it just worked 1/2 the time, then died).. it didn't slow down or anything just stopped working. It's a/c compressor's clutch slips bad, so it sort of works but makes a horrible noise with the belt on. It still has it's old r-12 in it. A few minor interior imperfections.. steering wheel, shifter, e-brake handle. All a bit worn. Cruise control worked up until maybe a month ago when I randomly tried using it. It has 148k~ miles. I have the 800 cash as stated.. I'd probably be willing to let the car go for as close to a grand as possible. I JUST bought the ARP hardware and pistons and the spare blcok+crank for 600 bucks.. so I might include those if I get like 1200-1300. I also have new front brake calipers, another steering rack with some stuff to rebuild it, and new pads and a new slave cylinder. Needs the slave cylinder, needs the pads, and the calipers came with it along with the rack. It's a real nice shell at least. No accidents as stated, hardly any dents or dings, and I am the 3rd owner. TECHNICALLY 4th if you count the original dealership owner that bought it and drove it to texas and sold it off. I need a car by next week... someone trade me/buy this.
shame to see another mk3 go down with rodknock. such beautiful cars... such quality

Well.. it's fine now? hah. Definitely had a super loud knock.. took it around the block and it's quiet again? It's done this before but has just vanished after shutting it down.... Thinking something in the head is destroyed? The rebuild is back on unless I take it out for a ride just now and it is screwed again.
