Same thing goes for the Curve or for any Blackberry for that matter.

The older Curves do not require a plan. I used to have one.

I tend to splurge when new phones come out. I went from the G1 to the Mytouch, paid full price because I didn't have an upgrade available. I'm starting to realize cell phone features are just a waste of money for me. I'll keep the texting, but thats about it. I'm on the internet alot during the day and at home, why the hell do I need it on my phone.

for me its the maps and gps. google just released their own gps and i hacked it onto the phone... amazing. that and google voice.

i was the same way with phones. first a winmo phone then crackberry then the g1. i got lucky and realized that the google phones have everything you need and its cheaper in the long run than a fu*king iphone.

None of the Blackberry's require a data plan if you buy it from someone else other than T-Mobile. And if you do buy it from T-Mobile and don't want the data plan then you have to pay full price.

I did buy my Curve from Tmobile though, didn't need a plan, and I got a full discount on it. This was over a year ago though.
