i have a ka24de complete engine and 5 speed transmission out of a 95 240. i need to get 500 for everything in ocala. top timing chain guide was broken and rattling around, but did not fall into engine and cause any damage. engine ran good when pulled.
NOW JUST THE ENGINE!

Have you gone in and removed the timing chain guide? I am interested.

 

chain guide is resting on top, between the cam gears. Very easy fix. Also, its a 95

 

Don't people just go in and remove it completely?? If its damaged, why is it still in?

 

Car was purchased that way and engine was removed the day after for a SR. The car was driven home from about an hour away and ran perfect. Didn't notice it until hood was opened and heard clicking noise from chain rubbing the guide. Valve cover was removed to verify this.

 

so is it just the guide or the whole chain is screwed?

 

just the guide broke off, and it has been removed. didn't cause any damage.
