like the title says im looking into getting a 4g63 swap for my eclipse i just bought i dont need tranny cuz it allready has the gst spider tranny on it but has a 420a ( blah ) lmk if anyones got one of these laying around

ummm is it a 2.4 or a 420a?... cause if its a 420a a 4g63 isnt a direct bolt in.. the 2.4 I belive can be installed without a crap load of work like the 420a to 4g swap is..

^ there are three types of engines that came in eclipse and talons. The 4G63T which is the mitsu made engine. The 420a which is a chrysler made engine, and the spyders came with a 4G64 single cam non-turbo. You said you have a GST tranny in your car as well as a 420a engine??? I don't think that is possible.... And what he meant when he said its not a direct bolt on. The 4G63 WILL NOT go into a non-turbo eclipse or talon that has a 420a installed without having the mounts on the frame modified, its oppositely set-up. If you can spend that amount of money, look into an EVO 8 engine that is setup the same as a 420a and you can save yourself from cutting up your car and save money.

 

no i have no motor or tranny in the car the tranny is sitting on the side but it was just a sheel with ALOT of shit done to it i was wanting to put a 4g in it but have sence learned after doing research that the car came with a 420a i know pretty sad im upset about it but im prolly just gona throw a motor in it put my turbo kit on it put the mods i have on the car and sell it and buy a black gst spyder my buddy has

people need to remember that these cars are not hondas you cant just swap in any other motor without any modifications. Since your car is a 420a the only other swap you can do is the 2.4l block from the chrysler cloud cars which is similar to the srt4 engines. Just get a 420a boost it to 8 psi and pray everyday it does not blow up.

 

it'd be too much work to do that.....the 420a and the 4g63 face different directions...the timing case is on the driver's side with the 4g,and on the passenger's side,with the 420a...if u want a turbo swap,get an srt4 neon drivetrain,that would be the closest bolt in,and i've seen it done
