WTB: Need 2G AWD Center Shaft....or whole tranny
Hey!
Figures that I get my trans checked out, put it back in the car being told everything was OK and find that when they re-assembled it they didn't put the center shaft back in? This was couple months ago so I don't really have a case with them anymore. They can't find it around the shop either...so...
Basically I need to find a center shaft for a 2G AWD tranny. See the pic for what I need. Anybody here have one? Know where I can one? I haven't checked with the stealer to see if they have it. And do you know if this slides into the tranny from the outside - or do I need to take the whole thing apart again?
I'm open to considering another shaft, or a whole tranny just to get it done...or how about a whole 6 bolt swap

A 6bolt swap has nothing to do with what tranny you have. And yes you have to take the tranny off the motor. You are talking abour the t-case shaft right? If you are you have to pull the tranny and take the end of the tranny off. Then you will see the vc. Well you should see the vc then, unless they didnt put that back on either. Well you pull that off then you slide the shaft in through the bell housing side all the way through. Then you reinstall the vc and there should be a little metal ball bearing that will hold the shaft in place with the vc sliding over top of it. Very easy thing to do. pm me if you need help with it. used to have a spare t case shaft laying around to but not anymore. Jerry aka lancerman will more then likely have one laying around.

Ya I was just being funny with the 6 bolt thing. Seem to see a lot more 1G parts on the market compared to the 2G trannies. Sure do appreciate the offer for guidance and assistance!...just gotta find the part first!
I can sell you one. The tranny does not have to come back out. It slides in when in the car. Take the outer cover off but be careful. You dont want to break the seal between the main case and mid case. After you remove the bolts place a big screwdriver in between the drain plug and mid case. You can pry there and safely break the seal of the outer case without disturbing the seal of the mid case. For clarification, there are four cases. Bell housing, main case, mid case, outer case. Next you have to remove the VC (17 in pic). Again, you have to be very careful not to break seal between the main case and mid case. It is best to put 4 bolts back in with some spacers . This will hold all the cases together so as not to loose your seal. Now you can safely pry off the VC. Once the VC is off you can slide the new shaft in. Install retaining bearing and reinstall VC.

Damn Jerry I thought I was right, close it just would of taken him an extra 2 hrs of pulling and putting back the tranny.
