Default f/s dsm

well its official i cant stand this thing anymore the timing belt snapped today on startup, it will need a timing belt, not sure if it will need anything eles...

id trade for a something decent that runs good, if not $2000obo you'll get it the way it sits in the last 2 pics, wheels, all the mods ect...

got a 90 gst...........its red w/ black roof, it has one dent in the front pass. fender, interior is almost prefect cleanest dsm interior around prolly, no rips tears nothing, autometer boost gauge, momo steering wheel, has a cd player, ICE COLD a/c!!! full 2.5 in exhaust (no cat) to a magnaflow muffler (has dsm gurgle, very deep) Tial BOV, sylvania silverstar's, 17" enkie rpf1's,28x12x3 fmic with all aluminum 2.5 in piping, TC.com j-pipe, slim fan, MKIV fuel pump, has a remanufactured head , new head gasket,water pump,t-belt, turbo is in good condition,just rolled 122k on the odo,5 speed, car runs 100% flawless, if you want anymore info lemme know.... PS for the record this car gets 22+ mpg!

If the timing belts break on these motor... you might as well call it shot. You bend valves and all that good stuff. So it would need another motor probably. If it wasn't for that I would be interested.

Not a whole motor just the head...but hey if you decide to part out the car i'll buy the whole motor...I wouldnt mine having a 6 bolt in my 2g

While it is true that these motors usually trash a few valves when a timing belt breaks. He stated it occured upon startup, a few questions would need to be answered. Was the motor started or was it during the cranking period? If only during the cranking period I wouldn't say total loss just yet.

Well like I said, it may be more then the head. It all depends, I would pull the head to find out but it could of scared the pistons. The 1g TSI I had bent valves and also broke a few which ending up in the turbo housing and broke some exhaust fins... it also trashed the pistons. It all depends, but you can't assume it only needs a head. You would need to pull the head off to be sure.

It could be totally unharmed or it could need a full head rebuild and the pistons could be trashed. I'd lean toward the lesser of those consequences but you'd have to be willing to accept the range of possibilities.
