WTB: Mazda RX7
I am looking for a Mazda RX7, I want one that is a 91-93. I can only make payments on it. I make about $600 a month so I would like to make payments on it for about $350 a month. I can save up and make a nice down payment. Looking for one with Turbo thats it, I will spend up to $5,500 on it. Automatic would be great! But stick is fine.
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks,

Well...good luck finding a '93 for $5500 that wont require another $5500 or more in it to fix it up. The 91 is a 2nd generation body style. 1992's are super rare and 1993 is the 3rd generation body style which only came twin turbo.
Honestly I would find a nice 86-91 body style, get a turbo rotary (13bt) get it rebuilt and put down some good numbers. $800 for the stock turbo on those cars to a hybrid rebuild; capable of putting down 350rwhp at 15psi on a stock port engine plus it bolts to your stock exhaust manifold (save you $350). If you guys don't believe me check out BNR turbos at rx7store. You could have a very fast car (low 12's, high 11's) for $5-$7,000.
^---- +1 with what he said....if you don't want to go with the 2nd gen....1st gens are much lighter
Or....depending on how old you are and how good of credit you have, you can try and get a loan and purchase one either private party or from a dealer (hard to find at dealerships).
We bought our 94 at a dealership a few months back for $15k and financed it. Our credit is not the best and we pay around $350 a month. Try it out....

Theres a couple things you need to consider before trying to get a rx7.
1. Insurance, you are 16 i dont care how good of a driver you may be. The insurance company doesnt care your going to be paying ALOT, these are considered high preformance sports cars. You are also getting a turbo which will be even more exspensive (atleast what my insurance company told me).
2. Just b/c you can buy a rotary doesnt mean you can afford one. They are exspensive to upkeep, ask around anyone that drives one can tell you. Turbo's tend to have more problems then N/A's.
3. Gas prices, there rotary they get about 15mpg.
4. Your young cops are going to be looking to bust you real quick for driving one of these cars. Granted its not fair but its what happens.
5. Do you want a 3rd gen(93+) or a 2nd gen(86-92)? Personally i prefer 2nd gens (i drive a 88 FC RX7) it will matter with insurance as well since the year of the car will determine stuff.
6. When (not if) the car breaks down you better know a rotary mechanic ( i can recommend one if you want he does the work on my car if i cant ) or know how to do it yourself. Getting one of those mechanical books at a autoparts store is the best 15 bucks you will ever put towards that car. Most mechanics wont touch a rotary for real work and if they do a good chance they will screw it up.
Just my imput if you got questions go out saturday night and talk to some of the rotary drivers they will give you first hand exsperince in driving one. Also check out RX7CLUB Ask around there. Be sure you know what your getting yourself in too.

If an rx7 gets 15mpg there is something wrong, they will get around 20/city 25/highway running straight and thats turbo. I was 18 when I went and got my 88vert under my own insurance plan, for the minimum it is 182/month with AIG.
I would just try and sell the escort, then purchase a really good stock FC turbo that has somewhat low miles or a rebuild. They can be found for 3-4k.
