Yes, it does sound like it threw a rod . The very bottom of the cylinder will be notched.The bottom part of the pistons skirt does not make contact with this area though so no harm is done. Aluminum can be welded; not a huge issue to those in the welding/maching industry.

Any additional input is gladly accepted.

My opion on buying parts. To anyone buying parts...... you the buyer has to take a certain amount of responsibility yourself and completely check out the item regardless of the seller - no matter who it is. The items we buy are usually used and sold "as is".

I myself have been taken simply because I didn't check out the item closely before leaving with it; my fault completely. If I would have looked closer I wouldn't have bought the item. You do have a choice to buy or not. If you don't know what to look for take a friend who knows more.

You do need to look over used parts with a keen eye. But we don't need members making it a habit of ripping off fellow members either.
