from the dmv
In response to your question:
The title name is benny bridges and the car was sold to Will johnson. Will sign the title but never Registered the car. I bought if form Will and have a notrey statement that he sold me the car. So if I bring the title to you can it be put in my name. Thank you. Raymond Greenlee

Response
Dear Mr. raymond greenlee:

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

Mr. Johnson should have transferred the title to his name prior to selling the vehicle to you. He will have to obtain a title in his name. He can then complete the title for transfer to you.

We hope this information will assist you.

I've been through this as well guys, what ray just posted is correct. If you know a notary public there is a form that basically says the guy that signed the title never took ownership of said vehicle and the signature was a mistake.that is near impossible if you get what I'm saying

That's the safest way to be. I make it a rule never to buy a car with title issues. Without a clear title, you're basically buying a parts car. I'm always seeing people selling cars on craigslist that say "I don't have the title but one can easily be obtained". My response is , "If it's that easy, then YOU get the title THEN I'll buy the car". I feel bad that the OP got burned by the seller but you have to protect yourself.
