Default Dome light and cluster illlumination don't come on

My 89 mustang's dome light and cluster lights do not come on. However, when I spin the wheel that illuminates the cluster, the fuse pops. The dome is no original to the car, its out of a 93 hatch and the speed-o is a 120mph speed-o. any help is much appreciated

Sounds like the headlight switch is bad. But ask Dave at Genium. He'll probably be able to confirm....or tell you that I'm on crack. LOL

Most likely its the switch.

If the 2 wiring diagrams I have in front of me are right they are wired up pretty much the same in the 89 and the 93. So there shouldnt be any problems there. Both use all the same fuses and wire colors between both years.

Note - I comparted a 89 GT to a 93 GT. Not sure if its the same for verts and 4 cyl but it probably is. Free information so cant sit here all day looking up every combination. Good luck.

So Dave....Is that a confirmation? Or are you saying I'm on crack?

Ehhh, you're on crack, I mean your car overheats.

Mine did the same thing and I replaced the dimmer switch and all was well. It's just a little rheostat gizmo and eventually wears out the wiper contacts.

Thanks for the input guys. Finally got around to replacing the switch today. Still the cluster and dome lights do not come on. I unplugged the dome and nothing as well. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
John

Look into the headlight switch.

N double check all the fuses again.

Damn. I just switched out headlight switches and still nothing.
I checked all fuses and they are good. I do not understand.
What else could it be?
