Looking for a 94-95 5.0 factory cobra cam
really?i would have figured the cobra cam would have been better according to the spec"s i saw.never know,i have seen stranger things.what am building is stock 88 short block with gt40p heads and gt40 expoler intake.long tubes, off road, and flowmaster exhaust.i want to use 1.7 rr and stock cam,150 nos kit.i don"t want bump idle street carhad one of those already and i have my other car for that.i am looking for around 280+ RWH on the motor.i see alot of people doing with expoler motors with stock H.O. cams making between 280-310 rwh.
The stock HO cam IS slightly better then the 93-95 Cobra Cam, its hes less overall lift, but has more duration. When ford put the "GT40" package on the Cobra's, they felt that it lost too much low end torque. So they put the same cam as the late 5.0 thunderbirds in it to regain some of the lost torque.
Stick with the stock 5.0 cam. It has also been reported that some of the earlier 5.0 cams were slightly hotter. Look for one out of an 87-88.
If you are willing to spend a little money, call Flow Tech Induction and have Ed Curtis set you up with a custom cam. I'm sure he can do a "sleeper" grind that will out perform any stock cam and not have much more of an idle.
